Check your grades (optional)

The overall grade for a course in Canvas may not indicate your current grade for that course. It only includes the scores for assignments completed in Canvas. Sometimes, not all assignments are completed in Canvas. However, teachers will upload any grades completed outside of Canvas.

Once you have entered into a course you are taking, click the Grades link on the left side in the course navigation. You can view the name of the assignment, the assignment due date, the score you earned, the total point value of the assignment, and icons for any assignment details. You may also see an icon in the score column indicating the type of assignment you submitted. Once your instructor has graded your assignment, the icon will be replaced by your score.

  •  If you see a score of "1" then the assignment is missing and you need to complete it.
  • If you see a score of "2" then the assignment is incomplete and you need to finish and re-submit it.
  • If you see a score of "3" then you were absent and need to complete the assignment and submit.

If your student's instructor left a comment on the assignment, the assignment displays a comment icon (speech bubble). To view comments, click the icon. Comments display chronologically. To close comments, click the close link.

You can view the scoring details for an assignment by clicking on the Check Mark icon. If there are comments on the assignment, a Speech Bubble icon will appear next to the check mark. There could also be a Rubric icon indicating the assignment has a rubric attached to it.
